Don’t you think it’s useless to fangirl over a character no one gives a shit about?

I find it very intriguing when people assume that the only reason Usopp has fans is because of a meme. They also think that being a fan of Usopp is a meme in itself, which I find pitiful and stupid. Being an Usopp fan has taught me that it's difficult to stand alone in your conviction, but it can make you a better and more well-rounded person. To be an Usopp fan means one has to be intelligent, emotionally aware, and someone who marches to the beat of their own drum. While I can see other characters and understand why people would be fans of them, I just can't bring myself to fan girl over them. Usopp represents the relatability of having to make do with what you have and learning to live with that. That's why he's a character worth being a fan of.

ASL 2000’s AU

I cooked. I hardcore cooked with this.

design commentary:

I loved the 2000's, so this was a real treat to design. I was only cognitive for like a couple years of it but i still remember a lot of the fashion from when it was going on. ESPECIALLLY. the short sleeves over the long sleeve shirts. 2000's loved their layers.

So Luffy was pretty easy to design. He was the first one i designed. i love when theres an easy translation for the Sunny and Merry into AU's.

Ace is very heavily inspired by Avril Lavigne. I was having trouble with designing him, but then Complicated by Avril came on the 2000's playlist i was watching/listening to for inspiration, and suddenly i understood everything. It all made sense to me.

Ace was M A D E for this au. I was thinking that as i was drawing him, but then i realized that Ace literally was made in like 2001 so... yeah. he was made for the 2000's.

Sabo was the last one i finished, i wasnt feeling too inspired with him, but i talked with friends who were more cognitive during that time than I, and one of them provided me a very helpful article about fashion trends at the time that included football and basketball jerseys. I put him into each of those, but none of them fit him quite well. I then put him in a baseball jersey, and although it makes him look the 𝓌𝒽𝒾𝓉𝑒𝓈𝓉, it fit him best. So i kept it.

I did get to put Usopp in the basketball jersey though so it wasnt all for naught.

Franky's hair was also very easily translated into the 2000's, like every boy had that hair, besides the mullet tail at the bottom but franky's just built different like that.

Pre-relationship Usopp headcanons

☆ Usopp was just so scared to talk to you because you were so beautiful. At first, his voice was shaking and his hands were sweating when he talked to you. Obviously, the way he acted when you were near didn’t go unnoticed by the mischievous Nami.

☆ Usopp who tried to hide his blushing cheeks when he confessed his crush for you to his friends. But Nami, as a great friend she is, gave your number (you agreed to it ofc) to Usopp.

☆ You waited for him to text you but the poor baby was just too scared to even type your number on his phone. You waited for far too long so you just decided to make the first move and to send him a text.

☆ The notification on Usopp's phone caused him to scream. His hands were SHAKING as he threw his phone across the room.

☆ It was impossible for Usopp to understand why you wanted to be close to him, who has always struggled with self-esteem and self-love. For him, it was impossible to be interested in him and to even more, wanting to stay by his side (major daddy issues iykyk).

☆ Usopp who gathers the courage to answer your text after sending panicked messages to nami, who helped him calm down (even though he was still shaking)

☆ of course, you knew that Usopp had a crush on you, and it was mutual. But the way he acted towards you was just so attaching : he kept blushing and stumbling onto his words whenever he talked to you.

☆ at one point he thought that you liked him back but, again, it was unbelievable to him that a girl like you could like him back. So he talked to Sanji about his concern and low self-esteem he had towards himself. And as the great friend he is, Sanji helped him gather the courage to openly court you.

☆ So he made, created handmade gifts : bracelets, Lego flowers ect…

 “ I made this mug for you… because you told me you wanted huh… one like that, he said to you, trying to mask his embarrassment.”

☆ at some point, even Luffy was frustrated to not see both of you dating each other.

☆ Usopp was a coward, but even if he was a coward he mustered all the courage to ask you on a date. He stuttered, lost his words, talked too quickly for you to understand him. 

☆ But you said yes, and the boy cried because he was so happy.

I saw on YouTube, a video titled “Let’s Kill Usopp”, and all I can think is his haters still care about him. If he was truly someone (a character) they hated then they wouldn’t have taken the time to upload that video. I mean, the opposite of love isn’t hate. It’s SUPPOSED to be indifference. Right?
